January 9, 2009, Newsletter Issue #77: Luxury Hotels on the East Coast

Tip of the Week

The Hay Adams, located in Lafayette Square across from the White House, is a landmark luxury hotel in Washington, DC. It was named after the residents who previously lived on its site: John Hay, Private Assistant to President Abraham Lincoln and later Secretary of State, and Henry Adams, an acclaimed author and descendant of U.S. Presidents John Adams and John Quincy Adams. The gorgeous property has received the AAA Four Diamond Award 19 years consecutively

Dining: The Lafayette Room, where power brokers meet, serves breakfast, lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Fittingly, it overlooks Lafayette Square and the White House.

Spa: No spa.

Deluxe Touch: Stay in the penthouse suite, with its own separate living room and one-and-a-half bathrooms. The living room overlooks the White House, Lafayette Park and St. John's Church. There’s a gas-lit corner fireplace.
